Is this thing on?

After being here awhile, I've learned, there's just no telling what you'll find here on the site or my blog any given day.
Fun and blog friendship is why I am here.

Sometimes I'm serious, sometimes a silly goof. Eclectic would be a good word to describe my blog. I'm a blogger that writes about my life & observations, whatever they may be that day. What you see is what you get...I'm a southern girl currently living in So California. As a RN, in a committed long distance relationship, like most folks, I stay extremely busy, so I blog as time permits...I have tons of fun here, so come on in. Feel free to jump in the conversation. I look forward to getting to know you.

Welcome to my little corner of blogland, and thanks for stopping by.

HNW...Bed Head May 15, 2012 9:49 pm

This isn't quite the HNW Bloopers I planned, but it seems I've misplaced my thumb drive. Imagine that, right?..Anyway,this definitely is not my best pic, but I'm back to work tomorrow so won't be around much for a few days. Thus, I needed to post tonight.

When it comes to the time just before playtime, I've always wondered what others really like best...

For the GUYS, do you prefer:

1. A woman in jeans that fit perfect for her shape and heels?

2. A woman adorned in a soft nightie?

3. A woman decked out in a sexy naughty ?

4. A woman without any clothes, naked and in all her natural beauty for only you to see?

5. A woman decked out in business attire and perfect heels?

For the GIRLS...before playtime, do you prefer:

1.Your lover to be naked and fully accessible?

2. A man in his undies and a t shirt?..Now I'm really being nosy...What kind of undies do you like on a man? Boxers or briefs?

3. Your lover, freshly showered and in a towel only?

4. A man in great fitting jeans and a terrific smile?

5. A man in a sharp classy business suit?

If other, please share.

Services I wish the grocery store offered May 15, 2012 12:23 pm

1. I wish my grocery list would sync with the cash register, so when I forget the ONE THING I desperately needed in my *BIG* shopping trip, the cash register would
DING DING DING...Psssttt...Hey,you forgot trash bags and TP.

2. I wish the bathrooms were not at the back of the store.... in the ice cold refrigerated section. Just sayin!

3. I wish the produce dept put directions on how to tell if common fruit is ripe. I know certain things like pineapple. But I can never remember how to tell if a watermelon or cantaloupe is ripe, or needs another week to ripen. If I cut it too soon, it goes to waste. This really burns me up.

4. I wish there weren't displays in the middle of aisle for me to trip over like yesterday with 20 boxes of Swiss Miss Hot Cocoa falling on my head in front of the world to see. Safety people!!! *Sheesh*

Well, I'm off to the store to get trash bags and TP!

Do you remember grocery day being your favorite day as a kid? What was your favorite treat you always looked forward to? For me...it was Little Debbie's Oatmeal Pies...Mmmm...

Do you have a favorite treat now?

When it comes to simple disputes, Rock, Paper, Scissors is a good way to settle an argument with kids.

I thought you might enjoy a grown up version.

Which do you normally pick?...rock? paper? or scissors?

Do you have a favorite way to settle disputes?

May Gray, June Gloom May 14, 2012 10:02 am

P.S. I deleted my briarpatch post. Heartfelt thanks for the kind supportive comments. I really have missed you too, but talking about my sister was just too personal to leave up. Funny, I have no problem with posting my face pics, but some subjects leave me feeling over exposed. That topic is one of them. Seriously big hugs and deepest thanks. Your words meant alot, and it really does feel good to be back....Back to my real post topic.

We have a weather pattern in Southern California that's referred to as May Gray and June Gloom. It's when the marine cloud layer rolls in overnight leaving the mornings cloudy and overcast. It creates a great atmosphere for snuggling up with a good book. (I'm currently reading 50 Shades of Grey right now...OMG...HOT HOT HOT)

But I digress. The clouds typically burn off so the afternoons are warm & sunny, which is how I like it best. I've always wanted to go to Seattle, but I don't think I'd want to live anywhere that was always cloudy or rainy. It's just too depressing, and I don't get near as much done when the weather is gloomy. I like staying on the go, but with the weather overcast, it tends to make me sluggish and lackadaisical.

Do you find the weather affects your mood and activity level?

Do you have any remarkable weather patterns that makes your area interesting?

I love arched stained glass windows May 13, 2012 8:27 pm

While I'm not a fan of tiffany style lamps or the stuffy ornate stained glass windows we see in churches, I do love a pretty arched stained glass window. I especially love them above an entry way or in a master bathroom. I will have a stained glass piece for my home someday. Nothing big or ostentatious, but I do think they brighten a room.

I also love nice trim and pretty door frames. Did I tell you I once had 2 miter boxes and learned how to install crown moulding all by myself, from the HOW to book from Home Depot?...I am scared shitless of power saws, so it took me countless practice pieces....a measly ole month and a half to get one room done, but I did it!!

Crown moulding is probably the hardest DIY job I ever did. It looks easy enough and really pretty, but the angles and calculations were a nightmare! I'm pretty sure my mouth should have gotten washed out with soap with all the bad words I used on that project...I mean, the REALLY big bad words that you only think in your head when you jubilantly cut the final piece to 1/32", just to find you cut the wrong angle...But I did a pretty damn good job for a newbie. Thank heavens for my handy dandy caulk gun to hide those itsy bitsy gaps that jumped out and screamed...OOPSY

Are you a DIY person or do you prefer to call a professional?

What's the toughest job you ever tackled?

P.S. The site refused to load the bathroom arched window I had. No clue why, but here goes the best I could get approved.

Who was your favorite Bat Man Villian? May 13, 2012 6:37 pm

Not too long ago, I did a post on the best James Bond bad guy...EVER...
...
But there's another series I grew up with that I loved even more....BATMAN!!! ...Just like Star Wars, I'm old school with my TV super heroes , which means I'm a fan of the 1960's series with Adam West His uniform wasn't snazzy like the newer bad ass Batman's, but he had a certain charm that always left me feisty and wanting to go kick bad guy butt!

Is it wrong that I loved ALL the bad guys too?

And... Cat Woman.... was purrfectly lovely.
*Mama Mia*

I bet you boys just loved Bat Girl didn't you?...C'mon, you can tell me. Did you know she was Commissioner Gordon's daughter and had her doctorate in library science? Yep...Beauty and brains!

But back to the fun stuff...BAD GUYS...*wrings hands together with an evil grin*...

For the record, why do we not have an evil grin smiley???

Personally, I could never decide who was my favorite Batman bad guy...If I had to nail it down, I was always torn most between The Riddler and The Joker....But this is a toughie.

Who's your favorite Batman Villian?

What was your favorite BatMan gadget?....

I think I liked the Batman Beacon in the sky...

Yay!!!

Today is National Lingerie Day! How awesome is that!

I didn't even know we had a National Lingerie Day til I got an email from my favorite Naughty Nightie Store. So, I went to the googly place and confirmed that it's legit, and not just a scam to get me to buy more fishnets.

I learned there are quite a few Romantic Holidays, so I thought I'd share the upcoming Romance calendar through May.

April 28...Kiss your mate day....

May is Date Your Mate Month
May 4 Relationship Renewal Day
May 5 Significant Other Day
May 14 Online Romance Day

I met online, so I'm a firm believer online romance can turn into something meaningful...against all odds....and from a sex site. Who knew such a thing could happen?

This pic is my way of celebrating National Lingerie Day. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure without HNW I would have met my sweetie due to distance.

So, let's really enjoy HNW this week... flirt shamelessly with each other, and enjoy the fun this site offers.

Happy National Lingerie Day Everyone!

XOXOX

Picnic treats Apr 23, 2012 6:24 pm
2633 Views

One of my blog friends is having a picnic soon. Here's a fun treat I thought would be tasty in or out of the bedroom...Good weather not required.

Best part is....No cooking is required and all prep work can be done the night before.

STRAWBERRY KABOBS

You can make a gazillion variations depending on what treats your partner does or doesn't like.

If I was having a picnic with DG...I'd use Krispy Kreme donut holes in place of the Lil Debbie Swiss Rolls.

If I was making them for me and Mr.Hottie, then I'd use pound cake, banana slices, and pineapple....drizzled in chocolate syrup. Everything is better with pineapple and chocolate, right?

Oh yeah...and whip cream.

Lots and lots of whip cream... A little here...a little over there...You get the idea!

So, let's perv this post up a bit...

Have you ever had a sensual picnic? More importantly...
Do you believe in the pineapple juice theory?

A day off with Soft.. Apr 23, 2012 2:25 pm

Coffee, feed kitties their breakfast yum yum & a quick check in the blogs is how I start most mornings...

Today my day started with a 8am Mandatory Charge Nurse meeting. Now to add insult to injury, it was a chilly & drizzly *perfect for sleeping in* kind of morning....It was also my only day off this week since I just worked all weekend.

So, I showed my appreciation for the early Monday morning meeting by contributing....and boy, did I contribute.....Yeah...I was *THAT* person...You know... the one who never shuts up...I don't know what got into me. Normally, I wanna kick the person who drags the meeting out. But what can I say, I guess I was in a Chatty Cathy mood.

Tomorrow is skills lab at work so I'll be studying to brush up on some things we rarely do in my dept like temporary pacemakers.

This afternoon I'm baking a German chocolate cake for the staff who are working tomorrow. They're gonna be short staffed with skills labs. Cake makes everything better. Don'tcha think???

What I really want to do today is snuggle up on the couch and watch American Pie and take a nice nap. Cloudy days are meant for napping if you ask me. .....

It's cloudy here and my place has a chill, so I'd love to be napping on this sunny beach if I could.

Are you a person who likes to snuggle?

What would you like to do if you had a free day off and could do anything you wanted?

Have you ever been jealous of someone? Apr 20, 2012 9:30 pm

You can be honest. I have experienced jealousy a time or two. I've wanted to blog about it many times, but it's hard to admit to jealousy, because it's basically admitting to insecurity.

But back to the topic...

Have you ever been jealous of someone, but when you really got to know them, you realized, they were genuinely nice.

Did it make it harder to continue to be jealous?

Did you continue to be jealous?

How do you cope with jealousy?

Places I fantasize about Sexual Encounters Apr 19, 2012 11:03 am
3746 Views

It's one of the profile questions that we all have fantasies about. I checked yes on the roller coaster, but I'm just not sure about the feasibility of that one.

Here are some places I really would like to have a sexual encounter someday:

1. A drive in movie.
2. In a tent in the middle of the night while sharing an extra large sleeping bag.
3. On a riverbank on a warm sunny afternoon when the fish aren't biting.
4. A hotel balcony
5. On a dam in the middle of the night when no one is around.
6. On an office desk...
7. On a beach in Hawaii...I know...I know...there are sand issues, but in my head, it's HOT!
8. A Love Hotel...yep...the naughty kind, but I'll probably bring my own sheets.
9. By a fireplace...this one is so romantic, but hasn't happened for me yet.

Do you have any places that you fantasize about having an erotic sexual encounter?

Where is the naughtiest place you've had sex?

What does your inner voice say to you? Apr 19, 2012 10:14 am

We all have prejudices and biases that skew our perception, which inadvertently alters the person we become by affecting life choices we make. Our self view can be self limiting or self fulfilling.

When I was 4 yrs old, my brother overdosed on wild field mushrooms and almost died. He was with his best friend at the time, who I always thought was a mean-hearted boy with a propensity for bullying and mocking others. My brother was almost 15 when it happened. Whether they were hungry and eating off the land which we had been taught to do from an early age or trying to get high, who knows. It was 1973, and a very different world for 2 boys out in the country and nothing to do.

Anyway, when my brother started hallucinating, his bf Jim thought it was the funniest thing in the world, so he goaded my brother into eating more. Lots more… He later wept and apologized to my Dad for this, so I know that’s how it went down. When the chills and seizures started, he realized something was terribly wrong and went and got help.

Fast forward…From that point on, two things were off limits in my father’s house…drugs and mushrooms. I suppose it was because we almost lost the farm with trying to pay the medical bills. Two years earlier, I’d spent weeks in the hospital, and he was still paying that off. We were also in a recession at that time. Times were really hard, in the midst of a drought, which is the kiss of death for a farmer…. Yeah… my dad became vehemently bitter when it came to drugs and mushrooms. He also never let my brother forget the stupidity of youth that day. It sounds harsh, but my father was clear. Coddling wouldn’t make any of us kids strong, so it just wasn’t how we were raised. He was a loving man, but a total hard ass too.

As a result of that day, my brother who had once been a shining star in my Dad’s eyes lost grace in my father’s eyes. Years later I watched with profound sadness as my brother ended up losing his place in life and never became the shining star he had the potential to be. That always stuck with me too.

To this day, I do not like mushrooms. I’ll occasionally eat a pork roast with a nice mushroom gravy, but I pick every one of them out. I may as well be 4yrs old again when I have a mushroom in front of me…I get a big sour look that screams….EWWWWW!!! This family event changed me and my perception of mushrooms forever.amp;

Today as I got out of the shower, I started to critique my perceived shortcomings from the 20lbs I’ve gained in recent months, the thin hair that refuses to puff up some days that once was full, the fact that I still don’t have my bachelors yet at 43, and I am divorced with no kids…But as thoughts of my brother popped in my head, I stopped dead in my tracks…

I realized how I had occasionally allowed other negative thoughts to cloud my self perception as much as my palate . I’m not really insecure by nature. Not at all. Sometimes I’m actually too independent for my own good, and have a hard time letting people get close.

But…our inner voices can be powerful! Mine has betrayed me on more than one occasion and instead of strengths, sometimes I focus way too much on my faults. Being self aware is important, but what good does having a negative self perception do? Seriously…It’s self defeating. Screw that!

So, here are 5 things I like about myself:

1. I like that I am a giver with a huge soft heart.
2. I like that my nickname at work is Smiley most days, and that people say, Oh I’m glad we’re working together today.
3. I like that I am grateful for my blessings, most of the time.
4. Even though I don’t like the extra tummy weight , I like that I have boobs and boobs are fun.
5. I like that I'm a good cook.

Your turn. Give me a chance to know you in a different way ...Please share with me some of your strengths or things you really really like about yourself that I may not know.
